Abstract

The values of the electron effective mass m_{e*} in Hg 1-x Cd x Te have been calculated for x = 0.20, 0.30, 0.40. Using the Debye temperature θ D for CdTe, the values of the Hooge parameter for Hg 1-x Cd x Te have been estimated as a function of x and the temperature T . In view of the uncertainty in θ D , the estimate is probably correct within a factor of 2-3. We have also directly calculated θ D for Hg 1-x Cd x Te and its associated Hooge parameters as a function of x ; except for a possible temperature dependence of θ D , the results should be correct near room temperature.
