Abstract
The homograft notched incus has evolved as a reliable, effective, and permanent prosthesis to reconstruct the middle ear conductive mechanism when the incus and stapedial superstructure are absent or destroyed. It has been found to be useful in a wide range of patients, and indications for its use are constantly expanding. The initial hearing results have been good, and follow-up audiograms indicate that the hearing gain will survive the test of time.
