Abstract

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is offered in more than 1,100 schools in over 100 countries. Approximately 14 per cent more schools offer the programme each year around the world. It enjoys recognition for university entrance in all of the developed countries and in most of the developing world; as such, it represents the most widely known end-of-secondary school qualification not tied to a particular country. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) now offers a series of three international education programmes for children from 3 to 19 (or more) years of age: the Diploma, Middle Years and Primary Years Programmes (IBO, 2002).
