Abstract
This article is based on the results of exploration research within the federal target program Scientific and Educational Human Resources of Innovative Russia for 2009–2013. The authors of the article undertake an attempt to generalize principal data obtained in studying the history and legacy of Russian America, to summarize the first experience of field interdisciplinary studies, and to outline the prospects for studying Russian influence on the diversity of life and activity in the region. This article does not lay claim to comprehensive and detailed analysis of sources and the literature; this objective is posed in the monograph on which the coauthors are working.
