Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the problems confronting the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the origin of such problems, and to see how such problems have affected the interest of the states towards affective economic integration, and conflict management. In doing this, we shall look at the formation of ECOWAS, the economic setting of West Africa, before the emergence of the regional group, the problems of the group, and their origin, so as to know how to tackle the problems. We shall also proffer a way forward for a progressive economic integration and conflict management.
