Abstract

A membrane technique for the enzyme histochemical demonstration of the enzyme arylsulphatase is described. The activity of arylsulphatase in human tissues and in 261 malignant tumours in man has been investigated. Among the 261, 59 tumours showed slight to moderate enzyme activity. Arylsulphatase activity was found to be increased in a number of cancers of the colon and in some cases of gastric carcinoma.
