Abstract

Most Foundation Stage classrooms and nurseries have a home corner where children can develop creative and expressive play. These are also the ideal place for children to experience elements of a different home culture. With appropriate guidance, children can become familiar with objects from a variety of cultures and, in doing so, learn to respect and value differences in the practices and, ultimately, the beliefs of others. They will discover shared values and practices at the same time.
