Abstract

The ALICE High Momentum Particle Identification Detector (HMPID) is a proximity focusing ring imaging Cherenkov (RICH) for the hadron discrimination at high transverse momenta ( 1 < p t < 3 GeV/c for π and k, 1 < p t < 5 GeV/c for p). This paper focus on the HMPID particle identification (PID) capabilities in the expected charged particle occupancy dN ch / d η = 6000 , simulated in central Pb-Pb ALICE events.
