Abstract

The Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was founded in 1957. IMP operates the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL) [1], which consists of the Sector Focusing Cyclotron (SFC), the Separated Sector Cyclotron (SSC), the main and experimental Cooler Storage Rings (CSRm and CSRe), and a number of experimental installations. Through a half century of development, HIRFL has become a leading research platform of heavy-ion science in China, reinforced by active and fruitful collaborations with over forty institutions worldwide. The major research fields at IMP cover ion accelerator physics and technologies, heavy-ion physics, and heavy-ion applications.
