Abstract

This is the text of a lecture given at the Sixth Bee Research Association Conference at St. Andrews in June 1972. Dr. Maurizio has made a life-long study of plants foraged by honeybees for nectar and pollen. Here, for the first time, she gives a broad survey of European heather honeys, with an account of the delicate interplay of plant combinations that is reflected in the pollen content of the honeys—which in turn enables their different areas of origin to be identified. An index to the Latin plant names is given on page 116.
