Abstract

Abstract The Heather Oil Field is located at the western margin of the East Shetland Basin, in the northern North Sea, and is operated by Unocal UK Ltd. Oil is trapped in Middle Jurassic Brent Group sandstones below 9500 ft TVSS in a highly-faulted reservoir that has undergone considerable diagenetic modification. The field was declared commerical in 1974, began producing in 1978 from a single platform and has recovered 84 MMBBL of oil to date through primary and secondary recovery methods. Ultimate reserves are estimated to be 100 MMBBL of oil.
