Abstract

The shrinking properties of commercial polyethylene film before and after irradiation were measured. A “Shrinking Effect” value is introduced for quantitative comparison of the differences under various irradiation conditions. Three procedures were designed for comparison of this effect. The shrinking effect of polyethylene films depends on the morphology of unirradiated polyethylene. For the irradiated samples it depends mainly on crosslink density.
