Abstract

This discussion deals with the importance of a two‐phase follow‐up procedure in the effective use of the hearing aid “bank” concept. Phase I deals with direct follow‐up rehabilitation services to the older hearing aid user. This phase is designed to make adjustment to amplification smoother for the older adult. Phase II includes use of a computerized system through which a data base on hearing aids and services is maintained. Such a data base can be analyzed periodically for improving service delivery and for longitudinal analysis of the long‐term effects of amplification on the functional abilities of older adults.
