Abstract

ABSTRACT Zhang et al developed the hardest and strongest amorphous carbon through relaxation of compressed fullerene C60 by regulating the synthetic temperature and pressure. This type of amorphous carbon exhibits excellent semiconducting behavior. As the first research group, they discovered the polyamorphic transition in carbon. Their discoveries greatly benefit the development of superhard, superstrong, and semiconducting amorphous materials.
