Abstract
Several common hand conditions such as trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome and Dupuytren's disease occur up to four times more frequently in diabetic patients than in the general population and 40% of diabetics may have significant hand problems.1 The natural history of these conditions in diabetics and the outcome of treatment may not be the same as in the general population. In addition some diabetics develop characteristic hand problems due to restricted joint mobility. In this paper we shall review the epidemiology and outcomes of these hand conditions in diabetes.
