Abstract
CURRENT cancer hallmarks, their capabilities, and potential targeted therapies were the focus of the presentation given by Douglas Hanahan, Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Lausanne, Switzerland, at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2023, held in Madrid, Spain. Hanahan began by defining hallmarks as acquired functional capabilities that contribute to the manifestation of the disease, which are a “conceptual framework for rationalising the daunting complexity of cancer.”
