Abstract

In January 2000, the Guthrie Research Institute established a cDNA Resource Center. The mission of the center is to accelerate scientific discovery in human biology and pathology by providing full length cDNA clones of human proteins involved in signal transduction processes. The Center provides clones of human proteins that are: 1) full length; 2) sequence verified; 3) propagated in a versatile mammalian expression vector; 4) free of extraneous 3’ and 5’ untranslated regions; and 5) available in wild-type, epitope-tagged and common mutant forms (e.g., constitutively-active or dominant negative). The clones are supplied solely for non-commercial research purposes. There is no charge for these clones, although a handling and shipping fee is assessed. Between July 1 and December 31, 2000, 490 clones were shipped to customers in 65 institutions on 3 continents and the catalogue was expanded to over 130 unique clones, at least four of which have not been previously described.
