Abstract
Results from a large field experiment aimed at investigating the evolution of wind generated waves in water of finite depth are presented. The results provide the first experimental confirmation of commonly used growth curve relationships for energy and peak frequency for finite depth waves. In addition, measurements of both the one-dimensional and directional spectra provide the first quality data on spectral evolution and spectral shape for finite depth situations.
