Abstract

A thermal diffusion technique is proposed for solution growth in which supersaturation is created and solute transported by a thermal gradient. The advantages of this method are that convection does not occur and the interface is inherently stable. The growth rates of sodium chloride and triglycine sulphate have been measured and are consistent with a simple theoretical model.
