Abstract
Spherical calcite spherulites form in solution when combinations of Mg 2+ and SO 2− 4 ions are present. When either ion is present alone, modified rhombohedra are formed. Experimental design techniques were used to identify the significance of the effect of the combination of Mg 2+ and SO 2− 4 on crystal morphologies.
