Abstract

A brief summary of the theory of solvent effects in crystal growth from solution is presented. Based on solution thermodynamic properties, some qualitative predictions are made relating to the mechanism and kinetics of the crystallisation of hexamethylene tetramine from a water/acetone solution. These predictions are confronted with the experimentally determined surface integration kinetics and a good agreement is found between theory and experiment.
