Abstract

Growth increments of moulted crawfish Jasus tristani were recorded from animals tagged during 1971–73 at Tristan da Cunha, Nightingale and Inaccessible Islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. A decline in growth increment with size was observed for once-moulted animals of both sexes at Tristan da Cunha, with mean carapace length increments for males and females of 5 and 1 mm respectively. Growth increments of this magnitude were similar to those recorded for the South African species Jasus lalandii, over a similar size range.
