Abstract

8He nucleus has been studied by the knockout reaction in inverse kinematics with the proton target at 82 MeV/nucleon. In this experiment, the recoil protons were detected in coincidence with the core fragments and the neutrons emitted in the forward direction. The quasi-free knockout mechanism is identified and the extracted spectroscopic factor for 6 He core cluster is close to unity. A narrower resonant spectrum of 7 He ground state was obtained by applying the proton tagging technique. Relative momentum correlation function for the two valence neutrons in coincidence with the 6 He core fragment was also deduced, indicating a possible strong two neutron correlation in 8 He ground state.
