Abstract

The Grigg-Skjellerupid meteoroid stream has two distinctions. First, the portion of the stream that the Earth now intersects only started to be formed in 1967. Secondly, the Giotto spacecraft will fly by the parent comet on 1992 July 10, giving astronomers their second chance (the first being with P/Halley) to compare stream meteoroids at their source with the stream meteoroids which burn out in the Earth's atmosphere. The Grigg-Skjellerupids maximize at a solar longitude (1950.00) of 32.97° ± 0.06°, have a width of 0.21 ± 0.04 d and a mass distribution index of 1.74 ± 0.06
