Abstract

The article presents a profile of mathematics writer Martin Gardner, whose autobiography "Undiluted Hocus-Pocus: The Autobiography of Martin Gardner" was published in 2013 following his death at the age of 95 in 2010. Particular focus is given to Gardner's work on the column "Mathematical Games" in the periodical "Scientific American" until his retirement in 1980. Also discussed is his 1983 book "The Whys of a Philosophical Scrivener."
