Abstract

To the Editor.— Enjoying, as usual, the instructive commentaries on the JAMA cover paintings, I noticed a "slip of the pen" in Dr Merrill's 1 description of Bassano's The Good Samaritan . It would probably be more accurate to say that St Luke was the recorder, rather than the author, of the parable of the Good Samaritan. The author, of course, was Jesus, who told this parable to the lawyer who wished a precise definition as to who was his neighbor.
