Abstract

While gerontological literature has often described innovative programs and creative linkages between academia and community, less attention has been focused on the characteristics of student who enroll in gerontology. This research provides descriptive data about students enrolled in a Master's level gerontology program. Specifically, it describes demographic information such as age, sex, education, and professional backgrounds. It also examines students' motives and goals in selecting a master's in this field. Implications of goals for retention and program development are discussed and a reference section is included.
