Abstract

A global concave minimization problem of large-scale systems is considered by using the overlapping coordination method (Macko, et al., 1978) to decompose it into subsystems, the mathematical formulation of a two-level hierarchical structures is presented. The overlapping coordination method presented here may be flexible for solving a large class of hierarchical optimization problems of large-scale systems. For each subsystem, the concavity of objective function preserves some distinctions which may be exploited for designing the numerical methods of the global minimization. The method is very simple and the related procedure always gives an improved value of the overall objective.
