Abstract

Abstract A collection of specimens taken from the polar cod, Boreogadus saida Lepeghin, in the Barents Sea is described. Particular attention is paid to the anterior part of the animal and comparison with previous published descriptions suggests a high degree of plasticity. Notes on external anatomy and adult development are given. A single case of double infection is reported. A single specimen from Mallotus villosus (Müller) is reported on. This specimen had most of the body outside the gill cavity. Notes on distribution in Norwegian waters and particularly in the Barents Sea are given.
