Abstract
ABSTRACTWith further reference to the phenomena of mayfly gill movement (Eastham, 1932, 1934, 1936), an examination of the gills of Ecdyonurus venoms has been made.The methods adopted for analysing gill movement and for observing the currents were similar to those employed for Caenis and Leptophlebia (Eastham, 1934, 1936) and need not be described here. It is perhaps sufficient to remark that the gills may be induced to oscillate at the rate of about seven per second thus making observation by means of the stroboscope possible (Gray, 1930).
