Abstract

This study aims to review the evolution of the German-language press in Bukovina before and after 1918, trying to answer the question whether this could be considered an emanation of a "colonial" reality in the province annexed after 1774 to the Habsburg Empire and reincorporated with Romania after the First World War. The theoretical perspective offered by postcolonial studies is explored in this essay as it examines the Central European context.
