Abstract

AbstractQuantum Monte Carlo method (QMC), including variational Monte Carlo (VMC), Green's function Monte Carlo (GFMC), diffusion Monte Carlo (DMC) and path integral Monte Carlo (PIMC), is a stochastic method based on the quantum mechanics. This paper, firstly, gives a brief summarization about the development of quantum Monte Carlo method and expatiates its principles; then does some model tests, which show that the using of quantum Monte Carlo method for geophysical inverse problems is successful, and its algorithm is also acceptable for some other nonlinear optimazation problems; lastly, gives a perspective on the using of quantum Monte Carlo method for geophysical inversion, and points out its shortcomings.
