Abstract

Abstract The article deals with the determination of influence of cutting geometry of grooving tool on intensity and course of dynamic load for longitudinal turning of carbon steel C45 (W. Nr. 1.0503). The exchangeable cutting inserts made from sintered carbide and marked LCMF 032504 with different cutting geometry were used for experimental machining. Machining process was carried out under pre-determined cutting conditions with overhang of tools TMAX = 12 mm, and 25 mm. The intensity of dynamic load was determined on the basis of the measurement of individual cutting force components with the use of three-component piezoelectric dynamometer KISTLER 9129AA. The resulting burdensome force was counted from measured values of cutting force components, and the influence of overhang of tools on course and stability of cutting process was determined.
