Abstract
A method for calculating the angular response, energy resolution, and geometrical factor of hemispherical electrostatic analyzers with large plate separations is presented. The method is applicable to analyzers with inside to outside plate radii ratios as small as 0.5. The effects of fringing fields near the analyzer apertures are considered in detail.
