Abstract

Synposis A 2 km long sea outfall tunnel and associated site investigation reveal a sequence of gently dipping strata of Productive Coal Measures (West-phalian) intruded by a Tertiary porphyritic basalt dyke, by a Permian volcanic neck and by Permian dykes of alkaline affinities. The stratigraphy and structure represent a westward extension of the north Ayrshire basin.
