Early observations of the near-Earth asteroid Bennu by NASA’s OSIRIS-Rex mission, in particular those described in two articles led by Bathouin and Walsh, reveal Bennu’s complicated geological history – from ancient impacts to past epochs of rapid rotation and deformation, present day thermal breakdown, and more.
