Abstract
Summary Major shortcomings in the geologic descriptions used in numerical simulations are addressed by a reservoir characterization of Mesaverde sandstone outcrops in northwestern Colorado. A geologic model for Mesaverde point-bar deposits using core plug data relates permeability trends to stratification type. This reservoir characterization helps develop a general reservoir descriptor that analyzes actual field permeability data that are related to an observable feature (stratification type).
