Abstract

Results of taxonomic revision and descriptions of Constantinea species of the algal flora of the Russian Far East are presented. In addition to the previously recorded species of Constantinea, C. rosa-marina (Gmel.) Post. et Rupr. and C. subulifera Setch., a North American species, C. simplex Setch., occurs in this region. C. sitchensis Post. et Rupr., which was thought to be a doubtful species, is clearly distinct from the other representatives of Constantinea and occurs widely in the Far-Eastern seas of Russia. The lifespan and reproductive period of the species of this genus in coastal waters of the Kamchatka Peninsula were determined. A key to the Constantinea species and illustrations of their external and internal structure are provided.
