Abstract

ABSTRACTAn archaeological sample survey of a 3.160 ha timber sale on the Tonto National Forest identified several small Vosberg Mogollon settlements marginal to the larger Vosberg Valley population a few miles to the south. A predictive model developed and tested during the survey indicated that this short term population incursion exploited small localized areas of soil and water resources. The model serves as an attempt to isolate factors involved in the development of economic and organizational patterns observed in the Q Ranch-Vosberg area.
