Abstract

This is a survey on the contribution of W. Wistar Comfort to the theory of topological groups through the looking glass of “dense subgroups of topological groups”. It turns out that under this umbrella one can find an amazing variety of results, as well as problems posed by Comfort that gave a significant input in the progress in the field of topological groups in the last five decades.
