Abstract
We present a genome assembly from an individual male Myathropa florea (the Batman Hoverfly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Syrphidae). The genome sequence is 485.1 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 6 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X and Y sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 15.77 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 19,633 protein coding genes.
