Abstract
The poultry industry is the most science-intensive and dynamic enterprise of the agroindustrial complex, greatly contributing to the country’s food security. In October 2014, a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences meeting considered the main trends in poultry selection and genetics, as well as new breeds and crosses as part of the preservation of the gene pool of rare and endangered breeds. The efficiency of new developments in poultry feed rationing, the use of inorganic forms of microelements and nontraditional sources of feeds, and resource-saving technologies for egg and meat production and processing were shown.
