L'A. defend la these traditionnelle selon laquelle une approche generique du plaisir sous-tend la question du plaisir par anticipation et du plaisir emotionnel dans le «Philebe» de Platon. La definition du plaisir comme processus psychique conscient, qu'il soit lie a l'harmonie naturelle du corps ou de l'esprit, ou qu'il soit lie a la representation de soi, permet de reconcilier les conceptions reflexive et non-reflexive du plaisir
