Abstract

Inequalities within economic systems have been debated since the existence of such systems. In recent years, we see that gender inequality has come to the forefront for good reasons. Although the causes and consequences of gender inequality are the main topics of these studies, eliminating gender inequality is getting a well-deserved placed. It seems that there are many different methods of fighting against gender inequality; “gender-responsive budgeting” has taken its place in the arsenal as one of the means to fight against gender inequality. Gender-responsive budgeting means that integrating gender into all budgeting processes with a gender equality perspective. It can easily be said that gender-responsive budgeting is the product of a very systematic thought system. What is needed to set up such a system are researchers familiar with gender sensitive thinking systematics and practitioners who support them with budget-making practice. These two main groups need data sets that are collected in a gender-sensitive manner. Even this brief explanation is enough to reveal how sensitive the system that needs to be created should be arranged. The complexity of the system causes countries to experience hesitations in addressing this issue. It is obvious that countries that have started to take a lead in this regard and have managed to establish their sustainable systems can overcome not only gender inequality but also all other forms of inequalities. The aim of this study is to highlight gender-responsive budgeting and contribute to detailed discussion in research.
