Abstract

In this paper, we report on the gas sensing properties of Ni0:6Zn0:4Fe2O4 nanoparticles. The samples were synthesized by the microwave method. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by X-Ray diffraction, which confirmed the formation of a cubic spinel structure without any detectable impurity phases. The results showed that the average crystallite size was ∼ 25 nm. These results were further confirmed by scanning electron microscopy images. The gas sensing properties of the samples were investigated in the presence of acetone and methanol gases. The Ni-Zn ferrite indicated a good response toward the acetone gas compared to the methanol gas, and the best operating temperature for both gases was 250 ◦ C. DOI: 10.6122/CJP.20150713B
