Abstract

The determination of ethyl 6,7-di-isobutoxy-4-hydroxyquinoline-3-carboxylate (buquinolate) in animal feeding stuff is described. A modified Zeisel treatment is carried out on a direct extract of the feeding stuff and the liberated halide is determined by gas chromatography, with an electroncapture detector. Time-consuming separation techniques are unnecessary and buquinolate can be determined in the presence of other additives closely related in structure.
