Abstract
Is evolution the result of chance or certain laws? Quoting Einstein, the authors pose the question ‘Does God play dice?’ The question ‘What is Life’ is answered by considering the rôles of nucleic acids and proteins, and the information carried by a single DNA molecule. Using as model difterent types of glass bead games, statistical chances are evaluated, and a deterministic outcome of natural selection is found. In fact evolution is the result of chance and law, rendering the question if God plays dice meaningless.
