Abstract

briefly discusses the history of art forgery, categorizes and illustrates some types -- the direct copy, which takes elements from many things, the pastiche, and the evocation which tries to evoke what an artist would have done. Describes the problems of later repairs to a work and of historical retrospective in creating a work. Concludes with steps for a deliberate process of how to look at a work of art. -- AATA
