Abstract

Abstract This paper outlines stages of the conservation of a unique collection of fossil marine reptiles exhibited at the Natural History Museum, London. The work involving protection from building works and the conservation of seventy‐eight fossil marine reptiles, including removal from exhibition and subsequent replacement, is described. The use of both cleaning agents and consolidants are outlined, including a solvent gel which is described for the first time for use on fossil material.
