Abstract

Abstract Terrorism, both domestic and international, shows every sign of increasing. In looking at the future of terrorism, this article acknowledges the evaluative nature of the concept of terrorism, and attempts to distinguish it from other forms of violence. Three major forms of terrorism are examined, and in each case an attempt is made to specify the general context and forms of terror employed, the conditions conducive to terror and those factors tending to inhibit or reduce terror. Possible new types of weapons and tactics likely to be employed by terrorists in the future are investigated, and the danger of nuclear terrorism is evaluated.
